Dogs & Cats
Currently, all shelters and rescues are experiencing high volumes of relinquishments and strays. Please do not take it personally if they do not answer your call or respond to your email. They are overwhelmed and doing what they can to keep up. Most likely, there will not be room at rescues to take relinquishments. Do not give up hope. Keep calling rescues and keep posting. Rehoming a dog takes time and is not something that should be tackled at the last minute.
With euthanasia at an all-time high, it’s best to keep your pet out of the kill shelters. Please exhaust all opportunities to rehome your dog or cat on your own first. You can find instructions on how to do this on our “Rehome” page.
Coachella Valley Animal Campus
CVAC is animal services for the Coachella Valley. They take in all pets but charge a relinquishment fee and are a kill shelter. Relinquished strays carry no fee. If you have lost your pet, this is the first place you should call.
Forever Meow is not a shelter so they cannot take in cats from the public, but what they can do is support you through their experience and resources to help keep cats in their homes, find adoptive or foster homes, mitigate community cat issues, and connect you with no-or-low cost spay and neuter to help reduce overpopulation.
Kittyland Cat & Kitten Rescue
Kittyland is a volunteer based, 501c3 non-profit organization, dedicated to rescuing abandoned and neglected cats. We are a sanctuary where kittens and cats are nurtured with compassion in a safe environment, and where senior, disabled and unwanted cats are valued and can live out their lives in dignity and peace.
Loving All Animals
Due to our kennel configuration, they are only able to accept smaller-sized dogs that are approximately under 25 pounds.
Also, they can only accept kittens & cats if they have available feline fosters.
The kennel permit limits the number of animals they may shelter at our Coachella location.
Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center
A no-kill sanctuary with a limited-entry companion adoption center, the Pet Adoption Center takes in healthy, adoptable cats and dogs from owners who can no longer care for them. As space allows, we also select healthy, adoptable cats and dogs from other local animal welfare agencies. Pets that are accepted into our center must pass health and behavior evaluations. All animals stay in our care until a good, loving home is found. No healthy, adoptable animal is ever destroyed. If space is not available to admit a pet, or if the pet cannot be accepted due to any other reason, owners are referred to other facilities and organizations.

Our rescue work doesn’t stop when the dog is adopted. We are available as a lifetime resource for adopters and have stepped in to help with medical care, training needs or other things throughout the life of the dog adopted from us.
